General Director of KAMAZ Trade and Finance Company Dmitry Leonov took part in a solemn event devoted to the start of the NGV rally – Gas into Engines 2022. The event was held at the site of Gazprom’s helium hub in the area of Vladivostok on Tuesday, August 2.

Among the participants of the event are Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev, representatives of the Government of Primorsky Kray, Gazprom and KAMAZ.

General Director of KAMAZ Trade and Finance Company Dmitry Leonov welcomed the participants of the already traditional Gas into Engines! NGV rally. “This is a unique event which enables to demonstrate the latest developments in the sphere of NGV engineering, test the novelties in field conditions and gives an opportunity to assess the ever growing gas fueling infrastructure of the country,” underlined the top manager wishing all participants of the rally good driving. He also noted that today KAMAZ is the Russian top producer of vehicles and buses running on natural gas. Among the main purchasers of these vehicles are the largest Russian companies, leaders in their industries, who experienced that it is efficient to operate NGVs. This makes you confident in the future of the gas-engine sphere and one of the greenest fuels.

“This rally will demonstrate the high efficiency of the LNG use on long routes. Our truck tractors can cover long distances without refueling. To add to this, the low price of NGV fuels helps to save a lot. I’m sure our experience will be useful for many companies with large vehicle fleets,” commented Lyubov Brish, General Director of LLC Gazprom Helium Servis.

“NGV fuels in Russia are becoming more and more popular year after year. Today, the country has about 700 gas-fueling stations. More than half of them are Gazprom facilities, and we continue expanding the network of automatic gas fillers,” noted Denis Danilov, Deputy Director of Siberian Branch of LLC Gazprom Gas-Engine Fuel.

KAMAZ-5490 freight trucks developed specially for Gazprom and operated by LLC Gazprom Helium Service headed for the longest Russian NGV rally. The truck tractors are powered with a pollution-free fuel – liquefied natural gas (LNG). Each truck is equipped with two cryotanks which enable to cover up to 1.4 thous. km without refueling.

The NGVs will travel 10 thous. km through 25 subjects of the Russian Federation. The rally will finish at the site of the XI St. Petersburg International Gas Forum on September 15.

The top Russian truck maker KAMAZ PTC can produce up to 8 thous. vehicles and 2 thous. buses running on natural gas every year. The high performance was achieved because gas engines, vehicles and buses are made in a single technological flow side by side with diesel vehicles. It is only gas equipment that is mounted separately, in a detached building. For KAMAZ, gas-engine vehicles and buses are ordinary mass-produced units. The NGV model range produced is almost a full equivalent to the diesel line, and the NGVs are equipped with engines running both on compressed and liquefied natural gas.

KAMAZ delivered the second batch of large-sized CNG NEFAZ buses to Novosibirsk.

It is worth reminding that the contract for delivery of 100 gas-engine NEFAZ buses was concluded under the program of renovation of municipal transport in Novosibirsk. It provides for step-by-step bus supplies: the first batch of 50 large-sized NEFAZ-5299-30-57 buses was delivered at the past year-end, 50 units more are to be supplied in the second quarter of 2022.

“All our vehicles arrived at the fleets of Novosibirsk within the timescale agreed. Moreover, notwithstanding working conditions complicated by sanction restrictions, KAMAZ not only ensured timely fulfilment of contractual obligations, but also kept the cost of buses on the same level. We handed over to the city 29 buses labelled NEFAZ-5299-30-57 which are already familiar to Novosibirsk’s passengers and 21 buses of the well-proven model NEFAZ-5999-30-56,” noted Director of Department of Passenger Transport Danil Ginyatullin.

Mayor of Novosibirsk Anatoly Lokot highly appreciated the new vehicles during acceptance and noted their large and comfortable passenger compartments, heating, air conditioning, passenger flow video control, security control.

The new buses are to appear on the city lines by autumn to run along five routes. Till the end of August, they are to be registered and prepared for operation. “We are close to decide on which routes the new buses will run,” informed Deputy Chief of Passenger Transportation Office of Novosibirsk Administration Mikhail Nikulin“These are the routes connecting the left and right banks, and also lines crossing the center of the city.”

By the way, these are not the first NEFAZ buses added to Novosibirsk fleets. In April 2021, under the National Project Safe and High-Quality Motorways, the city received 40 extra-large NEFAZ-5299-40-57 buses running on compressed natural gas.
