KAMAZ PTC and Zyfra have entered into a cooperation agreement under which it is planned to supplement robotic mining dump trucks with a domestic dispatch system for autonomous vehicles. This will be the last stage of work before the launch of the first Russian self-driving KAMAZ mining dump trucks at mining enterprises.

The agreement was signed at the CIPR 2022 conference in Nizhny Novgorod. The document was signed by Director for Digital Transformation of KAMAZ PTC Eldar Shavaliyev and CEO of Zyfra Igor Bogachev.

The parties agreed to exchange experience in order to build competencies both in terms of the operation of autonomous vehicles and in terms of production management. In addition, KAMAZ PTC and Zyfra will exchange practices for to implement tasks effectively and shape strategies for the development of the mining industry, as well as hold joint seminars and conferences to obtain high-quality expertise in the implementation of projects.

The companies intend to promote unmanned technologies in the domestic market, as well as enter the markets of the BRICS and CIS countries which have already shown interest in Russian mining self-driving vehicles. Several enterprises of the coal industry have already expressed their readiness to become a platform for testing and operating heavy haul trucks.

“We are developing a competitive product the demand for which will only grow. We intend to further develop this promising area and will expand our offerings of unmanned vehicles to other industries,” commented Sergey Kogogin, Director General of KAMAZ PTC.

“By the end of the year, we will have a tested mining management system adapted to KAMAZ dump trucks enabling us to effectively manage the fleet of autonomous vehicles at the enterprise. After its integration, KAMAZ trucks will be tested in the field conditions of potential customers, and we will “run in” reliability and efficiency of our technologies,” said Igor Bogachev, Director General of Zyfra Group.

Tuimazinskiy Zavod Avtobetonovozov PTC (TZA), a subsidiary of KAMAZ in Bashkiria, has made the first trial batch of concrete mixers on chassis of a new generation KAMAZ-6595 and KAMAZ-65951.

The new concrete mixers on KAMAZ-6595 (6×4) and KAMAZ-65951 (8×4) with mixing drums 10 and 12 cu m, respectively, offer a higher level of comfort and comply with all required environmental standards. In-plant and ground tests are currently carried out in order to get a vehicle type approval certificate.

The K5 KAMAZ base chassis carry a comfortable and driver-friendly cab, a low-consumption diesel 450-hp engine R6 910.15-450 and feature increased capacity. The entry-level KAMAZ chassis are already equipped with an EBS electronic braking system, an ESP electronic stability system and TCS traction control system, a modern multimedia system enabling to use navigation, read parameters of the vehicle, and much more.

The mixing drum takes its power from the chassis engine directly via a power take-off (PTO). This system lowers the curb weight of the concrete mixer and distributes loads on the chassis more equally. PTO drive significantly cuts operation costs as well. The new generation concrete mixers provide an option of central lubrication of bearing rollers and control of the mixing drum from the chassis cab.

Experts of the technical and commercial services of TZA PTC expect the new concrete mixers on K5 KAMAZ chassis to be in high demand on the market of concrete mixing transport trucks and fill the niche of a premium segment. These vehicles arouse interest in the EAEU countries nowadays. Besides, in view of promising outlook, engineers of the Research and Development Center of KAMAZ PTC are designing a restyled version of KAMAZ-6595 and KAMAZ-65951 chassis, gradually localizing imported components.

Recall that the top Russian truck maker launched production of K5 generation vehicles in 2019. The trucks boast high customer performance, including an increased service schedule (up to 120,000 operational kilometers), low fuel consumption and higher cab comfort.
