Technical characteristics
KAMAZ-53605 4X2 GVW 18800 KG
KamAZ 53605 is a two-axle dump truck with a four to two wheel arrangement. This car was developed as an auxiliary transport for urban utilities. One of the features of the truck was the presence of side and rear guards and the original frame design. Mud flaps are reliably held by special plates, and the rear axle is designed for increased load when exposed from the side. These solutions provided additional protection. Kama Automobile Plant produces the KamAZ 53605 model in the form of a cargo chassis. The model is characterized by reduced fuel consumption and reduced weight while maintaining the required cargo parameters. Thanks to the four-on-two wheel formula, the necessary lightness and maneuverability in control are achieved. The KAMAZ 53605 chassis is used as a base for installing many add-ons (truck cranes, drilling, dumping equipment and other special equipment).
Cabin
After updating in 2012, the KamAZ-53605 is available with two cab options: low and high roof. Both options include air suspension, and in terms of appearance, equipment and interior finish, they coincide with the cabs of the other KamAZ trucks that are commercially available today.
Cab KamAZ-53605
There is no berth in both cab variants, because the technical characteristics and fuel consumption of the KAMAZ-53605 are designed exclusively for transportation within cities and regions, but not for long-distance flights.
Frame
KamAZ-53605 is distinguished by its original frame design, which takes into account strong and unevenly distributed loads during operation. This heterogeneity, coupled with an uneven load distribution and often not quite even position of the car, creates shock forces, twisting and bending moments.
For this reason, the frame has an enlarged profile section. In order to reduce the aforementioned negative influences, the KamAZ-53605 dump truck is equipped with a “floating” mounting of the platform subframe to the frame.
The back of the subframe is fixed in a rigid way, in the middle - with the help of a bolt, by means of spaced flanges, in the front - by springs. For this reason, it is possible to adjust the loading platform for a changing load. Due to the relative movement of the frame and the subframe, the resulting vibrations are compensated.

Suspension
The technical characteristics of the KamAZ-53605 chassis were influenced by spring suspensions in the front and in the front. Structurally, the front suspension is similar to the KamAZ-6520, the rear suspension is the KamAZ-5460, which also has a similar wheelbase of 3.95 m.
In KamAZ-53605, both suspensions have single-coil springs of a semi-epileptic shape. The ends of the springs in front with detachable ears are attached to the frame brackets, and the rear suspension has springs.
In the front suspension springs, the free ends have a rubber-metal support, replacing the former, which had interchangeable crackers and side liners, and in the suspension springs, the rear ends have a sliding support.
Both suspensions have anti-roll bars, which increase the stiffness of the suspension angles and reduce the angle of heel during the impact on the side of the car loads.
Motors
The only engine used to complete the KAMAZ-53605 today is the 6-cylinder in-line diesel Cummins ISB6.7E5 300, which has a turbocharger and intercooler.
Its power reaches 215 kW (300 horsepower), the crankshaft rotational speed is 2500 rpm. The greatest useful torque is 1087 N. m (or 111 kg / cm), the crankshaft wrapping frequency is 1300 rpm.
Engine capacity - 6.7 liters. Its compression ratio is 17.3. It is produced in China, assembled in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny, at the Cummins-Kama plant.
Engine Cummins ISB6.7E5 300
Initially, KamAZ-53605 exclusively used its classic-type diesel engines: KamAZ 740.30-240 (with a capacity of 240 horsepower and a torque of up to 912 N. m); 740.30-260 (with a power of 260 horsepower and a torque of 1060 N. m), 740.30-280 (with a power of 280 horsepower and a torque of 1177 N. m).
All of them are 8-cylinder V-shaped diesel engines with turbocharging and intercooler. The volume of each of them is 10.85 liters. KamAZ-740.30 engines were installed on KamAZ-53605 trucks until 2012.
Then they refused to use them on this model, having begun to install a more modern and economical Cummins, which ensures a reduction in fuel consumption by 100 km for KamAZ-53605 to 30-35 liters.
Transmission
The KamAZ-53605 motor interacts with the 9-speed manual transmission ZF 9S1310. The main gear ratio is 6.33. During the first years, KamAZ-53605 trucks completed the gearbox of their production, as well as the 6-speed manual gearbox ZF 6S1000.
The connection of the gearbox and the motor provides a dry diaphragm clutch MFZ395 or MFZ430 with hydraulic drive and pneumatic booster. Clutch manufacturer is ZF. The checkpoint of the German manufacturer Zahnradfabrik (ZF) is assembled in Naberezhnye Chelny, at the ZF-Kamaz factory.

Brake and steering
The technical characteristics of the KamAZ-53605 garbage truck were influenced by the fact that the steering of KamAZ trucks of this model initially had a foreign-made mechanism - German companies Zahnradfabrik and RBL.
In terms of technical description, the steering mechanism of KamAZ itself has no differences from them. The steering mechanism is combined with power steering pumps of the same manufacturers from Germany and not formally inferior to them in terms of technical characteristics of the KamAZ-6520-3407200 pump, manufactured by Hydraulic Drive from Yelets.
KAMAZ-53605 brakes - assembled from parts from manufacturers Knorr-Bremse and Wabco. They have an anti-lock system. Each wheel has drum mechanisms that are highly reliable and have drums with a diameter of 40 cm, pads 18 cm wide and brake linings having a total area of 4800 sq. cm
